Train journeys alone can be a time to slip into nothingness. Stare out of the window and watch the sunshine make the river sparkle. Indulge in blank thought. There was a family with young children in a field, who all waved at the train as it passed (yes, including the parents). It made me smile.

You've been in that position before. A train passes and you think "if I was five, waving would be fun. But noone would ever see me from this distance anyway..."
